other fun in KC (besides the wedding!)

We also went to this cool farmstead they have there. We've been there a couple of times and it's always a fun place to take he kids.  It was fun to see Jackson get excited about the animals and explore!

she used to hate this area...what a change!

happy birthday daddy!

We had a low-key birthday celebration this year for Mike.  We went and had lunch with him at the U and then walked around campus for a little bit.  Later that night we had a fire in the backyard and had some s'mores.  Sophie got a lot compliments on her outfit!

garden

We decided to try to pre-plant some our veggies this year to hopefully have veggies throughout more of the summer, instead of just at the end.  So, on Sunday, while enjoying a gorgeous day outside, Mike & Sophie planted our seeds.  We're hoping for lots of good veggies this summer!
getting everything ready

helping daddy fill all the boxes with dirt

my way of remembering what we planted and where so we know when we transplant them into our garden...don't worry, I've marked the tray and the paper with a mark so I can line them up and know which box is which (we didn't trust ourselves to keep it in the same position!)

Mother Goose Day

Today was Mother Goose Day at preschool so all the kids (and teachers!) dressed up as Mother Goose characters.  Sophie was one of the kittens who had lost his mittens.  She loved having her face painted but was not a fan of the mittens so they disappeared pretty much as soon as we got there. It was so fun to see all of the different characters!  Parents got to come about 15 minutes early to watch the kids in a parade and then they recited a few nursery rhymes.

she didn't really participate...just stood there and smiled and watched the other kids (:

afternoon at the zoo

A couple of days ago, we met Mike at Como Zoo after he got off work for a picnic dinner.  We went after their naptimes, which was nice because it wasn't crowded at all!  It was fun to see Jackson get excited about the animals since last time he was there he was only about 8 or 9 months old!  One of the monkeys came right up to the glass to them...I tried to get a picture but it just didn't quite capture the moment.   I'm sure we'll be spending a lot of time there this spring and summer!

the monkey was looking at them until I got the camera, of course

Jackson "talking" (aka grunting) at the animals

they probably could have played on this all day

Sophie INSISTED that she could carry our backpack cooler as we were leaving...she made it about 5 steps (:

outdoor baseball

We are SO excited for the new Twins stadium.  Last Saturday we went to an exhibition game (even though it felt like a "real" game!) to check out our seats (we went in on season tickets with a bunch of people).  It was amazing.  I cannot wait to go again and really check the place out (which means NO kids!).  It was a gorgeous day...so fun!

Opa had better luck..Jackson found himself in his sunglasses

Sophie was so excited about her "gift" from Opa on on their walk

more park pictures

Again, Kari took some great pictures of the kiddos while we were at the park the other day!

We, of course, hope that our kids will stay good friends over the years, but we'd be lying if we didn't admit that there was a small part of us that thinks it would be really cool if these two had a future date (:
