planting seeds

We decided to try and get some of our seeds planted earlier this year to hopefully spread out our veggies over a longer chunk of the summer.  The kids loved planting them and can't wait to get the garden going.  And, then of course, they had to do silly faces for the camera :)

impromptu bowling

I had to take our car in for an oil change, but turned into needing brakes and a few other things.  I couldn't figure out any other way to get home, so I was grateful that there were places nearby.  First, lunch at McDonald's, which I was planning to do to stay occupied during the oil change.  Once we realized we were stranded, the guy working mentioned the bowling alley across the street.  Jackson had been asking to go bowling for months now so I knew it would be a hit with the older 2.  We were approaching nap time which made me a little bit nervous, but everyone really did well. I was exhausted after bowling since I spent the whole time helping the other 2 and chasing Calla around.  We even had some time to play a few games in the arcade.  When we got back, they still weren't done so we hung outside where the kids decided they wanted to pick up trash.  It was a crazy afternoon, but I was so grateful that our kids are (usually) pretty flexible!

Calla + peanut butter

You would think I would have learned my lesson by now, since Calla can climb up the stool by our kitchen counter, to not leave stuff laying out.  After cleaning up the table after lunch, I walked back into the kitchen and found Calla thoroughly enjoying the peanut butter out of the jar.  Oops. Lesson learned!

Lost tooth!

Sophie was very excited about loosing her first tooth.  She was brave and let Mike wiggle it out with some floss.  She couldn't wait for the tooth fairy to come.  We, however, can't believe our little girl is getting old enough to be loosing teeth!

Mike's birthday

Sophie was SO excited to make some special cupcakes for Mike's birthday.  I let her pick out (within reason!) what kind of cupcakes she wanted to make from her big cupcake book.  She chose frogs, and we had a lot of fun making them.  She also was very excited about the birthday crown she made for him at preschool.  He wore it proudly :)

MN Zoo...again

I feel like I have so many pictures from our zoo trips, but I love how they all are of different things (usually).  We went to go see the farm babies with Oma and Annika.  They had so much fun!

canoeing + dancing

It was a nice day out, so Mike decided to take Jackson and Sophie out for a canoe ride.  They loved it and had a great time!  The day ended with the kids playing a dancing game on the Wii, and managed to talk Mike into joining them.  It was pretty entertaining!

Since Calla has started standing up in her highchair (even when she's buckled in) we decided to try and have her sit at the table with us in one of those portable seats.  I wanted to just snap a quick picture of her since I thought she looked so old.  Sophie and Jackson decided they wanted their pictures taken as well.  Even though it was for a random thing, I ended up getting some fun pictures of them.

Easter in KC

We made the trip down to Kansas City to spend Easter with nana, aunt Becca and uncle Brian.  The kids had a lot of fun and the weather was great!  It was fun to visit the church I grew up in...even though it's in a new place and not at all like it was when I was there.  It was fun to run into old friends though!  We are anxiously waiting for the time when Calla will be a great traveler like her older siblings.  We'll give her some time since she's just over a year old :)
